The Communications and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM) is an organisation established and designated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) as an industry forum under Section 189 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998). CFM serves as a consumer protection platform within the communications and multimedia industry.
One of the key instruments utilised by CFM to safeguard consumer rights is the General Consumer Code of Practice for the Communications and Multimedia Industry Malaysia (GCC). The Code, which is registered with MCMC, serves as a primary reference for service providers in delivering communications and multimedia services that are of high quality, transparent, and ethical to consumers.
In line with this, the Service Termination Sub Code has been developed as an enhancement to the existing regulatory framework, with an emphasis on clearer, more structured service termination requirements based on the principles of fairness and consumer rights protection.
The public consultation period for the Service Termination Sub Code will be held from 12 May 2026 until 3 June 2026.
This public consultation process is important to ensure that views and recommendations from both the public and industry stakeholders are comprehensively considered before the Sub Code is finalised and submitted to MCMC for the next stage of the process.
The following document may be referred to as part of the public consultation process:
